Carmel-plage (La beach) |
That's right, more Carmel pics. Pourquoi? Just because...
... because my WiFi connection in Carmel last night was sluggish at best and prevented me from posting my favorite pictures...
... because I was fortunate enough to walk around downtown Carmel for a couple of hours this morning and got a few more shots of that lovely, lovely town...
... because my English friend Carole who lives on an island tucked between France and England loves Carmel, and I know she will enjoy looking at these even if no one else does ;-)
... finally, because it's Carmel, friends! C.a.r.m.e.l. ! Do I need to say more?
We made it to San Luis Obispo and I love our little inn downtown. More about that later. For now, thanks to a most excellent wifi connection, I get to post the rest of my Carmel shots. I hope you enjoy them!
Back to beautiful Carmel. If there were a photo needed somewhere to illustrate the words "charming" and "cute", then the city of Carmel would have to be it. My pictures don't even do it justice, but I tried. Blue sky, contorted shore pines, fragrant acacia and eucalyptus trees, blooming flowers everywhere you look. Carmel is Mediterranean. I feel as if I am back in Southern France or Spain, yet it is also unmistakably American. Clean, and pristine, well kept. A winning combination.

Boutiques... beaucoup de boutiques... |
People are friendly and laid back. They stop in the street to chat in front of art galleries, coffee shops. They smile and greet you as you walk by. It is a very civilized place. I suspect it gets busier (crazier?) during the weekend, but on a Tuesday morning, Carmel was simply delightful.
Finally, I mentioned it in my last post: I love dogs and by extension, I love dog-friendly towns. Carmel is such a place. Meet some of my new friends...
